Anti-Money Laundering Policy
Yorkton Casino confirms the identity of its players and watches how money moves through accounts to keep crime away from our casino. This page explains the checks we perform, which documents we ask for and the consequences when a check cannot be finished.
Why We Verify
All accounts hold real money in Canadian dollars (CAD), so we need to be certain that every player is a real adult using their own funds. We accept players only where play is lawful, and Canadian rules on age verification, identity checks and the prevention of money laundering apply to everything we do.
Verification protects you just as it protects us. It prevents someone else from registering an account under your name, keeps minors out and ensures withdrawals go to the right person. It also speeds up payouts, because a verified account needs no extra checks when you cash out.
Ongoing Monitoring
Our checks continue beyond sign-up. Throughout the life of every account, our systems and payments team monitor activity for patterns such as:
- Deposits that do not match the player's known profile or stated income.
- Money moved in and out with minimal play.
- Switching payment methods often, or using methods that belong to someone else.
- Attempts to split large sums into many smaller transactions.
- Multiple accounts tied to one person, device or set of payment details.
There is a daily withdrawal cap of C$25 000, and larger or unusual activity is examined more closely. Most withdrawals are finished within 1 to 4 hours, and bank wire can take up to 12 hours, but a monitoring check may hold a payment until it is resolved.
Identity and Age Checks
Before any money can enter your account, we confirm your identity and age and verify that your location is in a permitted region. For many players, this happens automatically through electronic database checks. If those checks cannot confirm your details, we ask for documents through your account.
Photo Identification
A valid government-issued photo ID displaying your full legal name, date of birth and a clear photo:
- A passport
- A Canadian driver's licence
- A photo ID card from a province or territory
Address
Proof of address: a recently issued utility or bank statement, or an official government document. We accept screenshots of online statements if every detail can be read clearly.
Payment Ownership
Confirming you own your payment method. Cards: upload an image showing the card's face, middle digits covered. Interac e-Transfer, PayPal, MuchBetter, Payz (ecoPayz) or bank transfers: provide a statement or screenshot that shows your name next to the account details.
All documents must be in colour, uncropped and fully readable. We may request a selfie holding your ID if the documents leave doubt about who is using the account.
Record Keeping and Reporting
Identity records, transaction histories and verification results are retained for the period Canadian law sets. We hold them in secure storage, with access limited to staff whose compliance duties require it. Our Privacy Policy describes how personal information is handled.
Canadian law requires us to inform the appropriate authorities of any activity that suggests terrorist financing, money laundering or other criminal offences. We are also not permitted by law to tell the player when such a report is being made, which means an account may be restricted without a specific reason.
Politically Exposed Persons
We screen each player to find out if they count as a politically exposed person (PEP): someone currently or recently in a senior public role, or a family member or known close associate of that person. PEPs are still welcome to play, but enhanced checks apply before and during play, including questions on where their funds come from.
Sanctions Screening
We also screen every player against Canadian and international sanctions lists, first when they sign up and then periodically. Anyone named on these lists cannot hold an account with us, and any match is dealt with according to the law.
Source of Funds
We request information on the origin of your funds when deposits reach higher levels, for VIP accounts, or when activity looks unusual. Acceptable evidence includes:
- Recent payslips or an employment contract
- Bank statements showing regular income
- Tax documents or pension statements
- Paperwork confirming an investment payout, an inheritance or a property sale
These documents are handled confidentially, and we ask only for what we need to understand how your play is funded. Deposits and withdrawals may be paused while a source of funds check remains open.
Failed or Incomplete Checks
Should documents be missing, illegible or altered, or fail to match the details on your account, we will email you to explain what is needed. While the matter remains open, your account may be restricted to viewing your balance, and deposits, play and withdrawals will be on hold.
If verification is not finished, or if we discover false information, fraud or criminal activity, the account is closed. Canadian law and our General Terms govern what happens to any remaining balance, and winnings tied to fraud or misuse may be withheld. Any bonuses and Yorkton Rewards benefits on these accounts are cancelled.
